Introduction
The school of Mechanical,Electrical & Information Engineering (MEIE) consists of electronic department, computer department, control department, mechanical department, experimental center, and computing center. It has 150 faculty members and 20 administrative members. The college has more than 3500 on campus students, including more than 300 graduate students and more than 3200 undergraduates. Equipped with 36 professional laboratories, the college is knoen as the key training institution for service outsourcing in Shandong Province.
MEIE has research institutes on Control Theory and Application, Industrial Control Technology, Measurement and Control Technology, Electronic System Testing, Computer System and Application, Software Engineering, and Wireless Sensor Network. The school undertakes scientific research projects of 15 milion Yuan form both the industry and government each year. The "iES-500 Power Dispatch Automation System" has won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2000.
MEIE has 9 undergraduate programs of: Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science & Technology, Digital Media Technology, Automation, Artificial Antelligence, Mechanical Maufactoring & Automation, Material Forming & Control Engineering. Among them, the Electronic Information Engineering and Mechanical Maufactoring & Automation are provincial specialties.
The school also clutives academic graduate student in five major disciplines: Mechanical Manufactroing & Automation, Materials Science & Engineering, Information & Communication Engineering, Control Science & Engineering, and Computer Science & Technology. The school cultives the PhD student in four disciplines: Mechanical Engineering & Automation, Materials Science & Engineering, Information & Communication Engineering, and Mechanics (Engineering PhD).
MEIE always adheres to the concept of talent cultivation and the cultivation of students' basic theory, professional knowledge and experimental skills, and strives to improve students' ability of innovation and practice. Students have achieved outstanding results in major competition events such as Electronic Design, Challenge Cup, Smart Car, Mechanical & Electrical Product Design, Qilu Software Design, and Mathematical Modeling. The probability of undergraduates admitted for graduate school and the graduates employment level have maintained at a high level.
This school adheres to open mind and strives to strengthen international cooperation. The school has joint undergraduate programs with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in mechanical engineering and automation, and with Austrlia National University in Software Engineering. The school has also developed many other double-degree and course exchange projects with universities in the United States, Britain, France and Sweden.
